NanoWrimo is Here!!!
I know it’s been a long time since my last update but for various reasons between life and trying to mess around with this website from the admin end, I have just not had the time to update like I should. This does not mean that I haven’t been writing or keeping up with other things that I should. Beyond all of that, I’m here to announce my daily posting adventure that I will be starting now that NanoWrimo has started.
What is NaNoWriMo?
Well, for those of you who do not know it is a month long challenge started by the great people at National Novel Writing Month (Formally Office of Letters and Light) to bring creative people together into one community to take on the challenge of writing a novel in an entire month. Somewhere I know there was a study that showed that when interviewed 80% of people who go into bookstores regularly to buy books said they would one day like to write a book themselves. Well, that is where NaNoWriMo comes in. It is a yearly challenge to write an entire novel (or at least 50,000 words toward a novel) over the month of November.
As you can see it is Nov. 2nd so that challenge has started and here I am. I take part in this challenge every year and this time will be no different. I am entering this challenge from a good place as I was in the process of starting my next novel so there is never a better time than now to jump right in.
So what will I be doing?
Chronicling my daily adventures right here for you all to read. Yep, all month I will do my best to put up a daily post about what I have accomplished and where I have failed. 50,000 words in a month is a lot for those of us who are strapped for time between family, work, and other challenges life throws at us.
So come with me as I write most if not the vast majority of my next novel right here in the month of Nov. 2017 and let see what we can all do together.
First day, first completion. Due to several life factors that will make completing this challenge difficult for me over the next month I have changed the way that most people attack NaNoWriMo. 50,000 words over 30 days work out to be around 1,676 words a day. I DO NOT have 30 days to write this month. My family and I are moving during the last week of the month and I will be spending this month packing to get ready for this move. Because of this, I will be attempting to get my 50,000 words in over the next 25 days. So. that is 2,000 words a day.
I can report that my first day of the challenge was a success. I completed 2,080 on the first day without much of a problem. I’m lucky that my first two days or so of this month are a work day and a day off. This is giving me the time I need to start off correctly, but because of the moving I won’t be getting “ahead”. Each day I will report how many words I’ve written for the day, what my total is, the ups and downs of trying this challenge, and anything else I may have stumbled across that I feel you would like to know.
I tried my hand at some new software on Day 1 but I do not have the time to write up my feelings towards it. This will be something I try and add in for my post on Day 2.
Day 1: 2,080 words
And on we go!
